It will tone and lean your whole body, as well as make you more agile and flexible.
In my personal experience/opinion, I think yoga is more beneficial for calming and pilates is more beneficial for toning your body. At least, it seems to provide quicker results as far as tone goes.

It does both. Yoga is progressive. The mmore limber you become, the more you can do. Holding those poses is harder than it looks, and a good yoga session will leave you drenched in sweat like any other workout.
