Is this schedule okay or does it risk injury?
Monday, Wednesday, Saturday: Upper Body Workout: Biceps, triceps, pectorals, etc...
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: Swimming
One friend said its good because swimming is mostly cardio. Another friend said its bad cause muscles need time to heal from lifting weight and I will be overexerting the same muscles. Which friend is correct?

Yes sir. It will help tremendously. Your #1 buddy knows what he's talking about.
Good luck!

Your first friend is right. Swimming is cardio and it works you arms at the same time. It might help flush out the lactic acid from lifting weights.

don't listen to your second friend. (no offense)
this is a good work out if you want to get in shape or become a better swimmer. swimming is cardio.
many famous swimmers swim everyday for 3-5 hours or more.
AND they go to the gym and work out and run for another 2-4 hours or more in the SAME day. like natalie coughlin. you'll be fine. just sore the first few days if you just started working out.
