I feel like I've been sitting around for far too long. I am 5'1" and I weigh about 145lbs. I'm a bit chunky, and I definitely do not like that. I would really like to get back down to my original jeans size of a 5 in Juniors. I don't really care how long it takes.
What sort of fitness routine should I do?

good meals, and exercise.
if you only eat healthy and lose weight youll become flabby
if you only exercise youll build muscle under fat
breakfast: try yogurt, fruit, or outmeal
lunch: try a healthy sandwich and some fruit
dinner: not a huge meal, light, chicken and salad.
stick with water, no pop or juice.
dont eat after 7pm

I always do some sit ups. And I have to say, if you do that regularly, it really helps.
But also running is good.
It's not that, you say. For example. Today I do some exercises and the rest of the week I don't. You really have to do it everyday, otherwise it won't help.

a year and half ago I was 15 lb more than I am now. I went to the gym about 3-4 times a week running on the treadmill for about 30-45 minutes and lift a few weights. Before I knew it, I had lost 15 lbs. I suggest the treadmill... if you can't run for long, you can always speed walk. I hope this helps.

You should walk around your neighborhood for an hour every night or you could do some form of yoga which is fun. or do 30 jumping jacks, 25 push ups, and 35 sit ups a night, work on doing half of each one first then move up more and more every week.

You can go for walks, go to the gym, etc. But every time you work out, make sure that you spice things up so you won't get bored of the same routine. Also, try to even out your workout for example workout your whole body the same amount of time so you are not chunky in one area and not in another.
