I thought I would lose, but have gained a little weight instead. My program includes equal amount of cardio and weights.

Weight loss will still depend on how many calories you eat. You should cut about 500 calories out of your current diet. Weight training/cardio are a "fitness" program not a "weight loss" program. Try to incorporate the two.

Absolutely. That was the most upsetting part for me when I started getting back in shape but even though the numbers get higher on the scale you will start to notice the changes in your body in relatively short period of timet. Try not to focus on the lbs. My trainer used to say never look at the scale judge for yourself if you are happy with your weight. But if you absolutely have to watch the scales for peace of mind try to just do it once a week and always do it at the same time of day like right when you wake up because your weight does change throughout the day.

Yes. It is possible if you gained muscle mass.

You should work with a tape to see how you tone up. That's better than working with a scale
